This neighborhood have its own rules (there is no real law, just nine basic rules such as "no violence" or "do not steal others"), its own currency, no president, vehicles are not allowed, etc.. This is a truly strange and must-see to visit if you go to Copenhagen.
By making some searchs on the internet before our trip, Christiana was presented as a kind of hippie town ... In fact, i felt it more as a kind of squat with junkies and was a bit disappointed by that. In fact, hard drugs are prohibited (but in an independent state without policemens, what can be the risk?), but cannabis is completely legalized and is sold like cheese or vegetables. On this photo you can see some signs "no photo" or "no run", because this is the specific street where you can buy your cannabis consumtion. In the rest of Christiania, you can take pictures without a problem, it's just recommended for people to ask permission first if they are on your photo.
Strange place, but glad to visit it, i don't think there are many places like this on our planet.

I invite you to read the Wikipedia page about Christiania for more informations about this place, this is really interesting!
